If you search for “espadrilles” on Pinterest or Tumblr, scores of the Spanish rope-soled sandals in all kinds of summery settings will bombard your screen: propped upon a Caprian rock, as the backdrop to a dripping Swedish ice cream cone, along an English countryside garden, on Gwyneth Paltrow in The Talented Mr. Ripley, and in enough Slim Aarons pics to make you want to finally book that trip to Portofino.

But before you tumble down a wanderlusty ‘drille hole, we’d like to remind you that just about every brand under the (not exclusively Tuscan) sun makes iterations of the classic sandal that work just as well on city streets as they do on the sands of Cannes. The 15 pairs ahead are meant to be worn everywhere this summer (though we certainly won't deny that they'd look even better while jaunting across Europe).

Turns out that, not unlike tigers, sandals never change their stripes. Who knew?

We're assuming the assignment was to sandwich the entirety of Gucci’s century-old brand into one single espadrille. And holy mother of pearl does this get an A+. But then again, doesn't everything Alessandro Michele touches?
