You always want what you can’t have — especially when it comes to beauty products. That’s why we’re getting the inside scoop from your favorite retailers on what’s selling out right now, how to sign up for waitlists, and where to go to find the next best thing. Because if everyone’s buying it, you know it has to be good.

Update: A previous version of this story stated that ColourPop will be releasing tie-dye highlighters this month. Representatives from ColourPop have just confirmed that the brand will actually be launching tie-dye eyeshadows.

This story was originally published on July 17, 2016, at 10 a.m.

ColourPop, the L.A. brand known for fast, direct-to-consumer action — and for being a sister company to Kylie Cosmetics — launched a tie-dye highlighter earlier this month that tossed the internet into a buying frenzy. The swirly illuminator — appropriately called Churro — is a combination of three of ColourPop's existing highlighters (Avalon, Wisp, and Stole the Show), which create an iridescent, champagne-meets-bronze hue when mixed together.

As you might expect, the first batch of product sold out in one minute, leaving many fans highlighter-less. The only logical response? Demand a second chance to nab the unique marbled shade, which is exactly what many devotees did via social media. Luckily, CP decided to create a second batch, which hit its site on Sunday, July 3. Naturally, the limited quantity completely sold out, and, according to representatives, the shade will not be making a reappearance.

But there's a silver lining. ColourPop has confirmed that new tie-dye highlighters will be hitting virtual shelves this month. Until then, we hope the five highlighters in the following slides will tide you over until you can (finally) get your hands on this baby.

Like the rest of ColourPop's cream-meets-powder products, Churro has a bouncy, smooth texture that transforms into a powder on the skin. It's a mix of Avalon (bronze), Wisp (golden champagne), and Stole the Show (cool-toned gold), which are all existing products in the brand's range. The result is a gorgeous, multidimensional bronze hue with flecks of pink, silver, and gold shimmer.

Ahead, a few alternatives...

Lancôme's new bouncy highlighters have a shockingly similar texture, package size, and finish to ColourPop's highlighters. This one, Glowing Lights, is just as bronze-y as Churro, but a touch deeper in color.

Lancôme Glow Subtil Silky Creme Highlighter in Glowing Lights, $30, available at Sephora.

This creamy highlighter is responsible for Gigi Hadid's enviable glow at this year's Much Music Video Awards. Although Hadid wore the pinkish version, this warmer shade works on a myriad of skin tones and provides a super-radiant finish.

Maybelline Master Strobing Stick Illuminating Highlighter in Medium Nude Glow, $9.99, available at Ulta Beauty.

This one is a classic for a reason: Its metallic, warm-gold hue lends a fresh-off-the-beach glow. Use a fan brush for more targeted application, or a duo-fiber one if you want something a little more sheer.

Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Gilded Honey, $26, available at Laura Geller.

MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish in Global Glow is a great option for those with fair skin tones. The baked, radiance-boosting highlighter veers more on the warm-tan side than it does bronze, but it looks just as glowy as Churro when dusted onto the skin.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Global Glow, $32, available at MAC Cosmetics.

But if you simply cannot live without a ColourPop highlighter (we don't blame you), Butterfly Beach is a great option for both warm and cool skin tones. The subtle peach hue has flecks of gold and silver running through it.

ColourPop Butterfly Beach Highlighter, $8, available at ColourPop.
