Here's A Whole Bunch Of Halloween Costumes To Help Inspire Yours

Different people have different ways of measuring when fall is about to hit. For some, it's when the leaves start to change. For others, it's when Zara moves its sweaters to the front of the store. For others, it's the first day that pumpkin spice comes back into the rotation. But for a very special breed of human, it's when you see your very first Halloween costume idea roundup of the year. And for you, it's that ti- iiime.

While you could go the easy route and buy a costume, we're partial to homemade ones. And not to toot our own horn, but we're pretty good at piecing together weird costumes here at Refinery29. Our staffers start planning early (like, now- early), help each other out with the hard DIY parts, and offer guidance on whether a costume is going to get you more awkwardly silent reactions than laughs. We collected some of the most impressive costumes from the Refinery29 family to get you thinking about how you can really knock it out of the park this October. Feel free to steal these ideas directly, or just let these inspire your own eureka moment.

Left: Hands All Over Me

Our executive creative director Piera Gelardi bought silk gloves on eBay, stuffed them, and pinned them to a jumpsuit for a conceptual costume.

Right: The Son of Man

Our founder Philippe von Borries is a fan of both René Magritte and fresh produce.

Fruit Punch

We know a knockout when we see one.

When ISN'T there a social media feud afoot? This costume will always be topical.

With a little face paint and some spray-on hair color, Laurel Pantin transformed herself into our favorite '90s TV hero.

Bill Cunningham

Says photographer Angela Pham about her costume, "I thought I was above the whole hackneyed 'sexy' take on Halloween, so I chose to dress as my professional idol, Bill Cunningham. The extreme discomfort of donning a bald cap and lugging a camera prop all evening made me wish I opted for 'sexy kitty' instead."

Ice Bucket Challenge

A still life version of the 2014 challenge that went viral.

Carmen Miranda

Lead singer of Marie & The Guillotines

Our executive creative director Piera Gelardi tailored her costume around the party theme "Purple Reign: Prince & The Revolution meets Marie Antoinette."
